Embedding an swf file into WordPress

When embedding an swf file into a WordPress page, make sure you make the wmode opaque, and embed the "movie" (or intaractivity) don't insert it into the page.

Posting Articulate quiz in Word Press

Assuming you have the original source file, even though it's in an older version...

1. If you notice an articulate quiz that's linked to the olde wwwacad server
   
2. grab the original .quiz source file using FTP
   
3. and double click it to launch articulate (newer versions won't file, open it)
   
4. select the destination and publish
   
5. zip
   
6. get rid of the spaces (put underscores instead), and save it where you want it (dropbox?)
   
7. close
   
8. exit and save the new version for a new source file
   
9. move the zip and source files from dropbox to where you need them
   
10. in wordpress copy (or cut) the link text
    
11. delete the link text and click articulate
    
12. browse for the zip file, upload, open in new window with the pasted link text, insert into post
    
13. update
    

Google classroom assignment comments not seen while turned in

In Google classroom you can make assignments.

In Assignments you can make a google doc for each student.

Students can turn in their assignment.

While you're marking the assignment, you can make comments.

Students CANNOT see the comments until you return the assignment.

BUT they can see any text you type in the document itself.

They and you can see when the other person has the document open.

Starting (attaching a template to) a new courses WordPress site

To attach the template to a new courses WordPress site:

1. go into the Word Press site
2. tools
3. import
4. WordPress
5. Browse
6. Choose WordPress Migration Content\Templates\elcc-template.wordpress.2015-01-13.xml
7. upload file and import
8. change the second author to you
9. check "Download and import file attachments"
10. submit

No feedback after Bb test work around

There was a bug that can be overcome by re-initiating the feedback (taking it off and putting it on again in Edit Test Options).

1. mouse over the test where the students see it
2. click the menu button that forms
3. edit test options
4. scroll to feedback and take off all checkmarks
5. submit
6. mouse over the test again
7. click the menu button that forms
8. edit test options
9. scroll to feedback and put back on the checkmarks that you want
10. submit

The sad news about Bb package file order

Got lotza files to upload to Blackboard and want them available in a single item (with multiple links)?

Well, you can, but you can't control the order ... easily.

When you make a zip file of the documents, they will be in alphabetical order.

When you upackage the zip file in a Blackboard sites files, they will also display in alphabetical order.

When you bulk add them into an item using "Browse Course" they will go in a weird order.

The only way to put them into an alphabetical order is to add them ONE-AT-A-TIME! Thus defeating the whole reason you ziped them together in the first place!

Make PowerPoint show in a smaller window for hangouts

If you're presenting PowerPoint in a Google hangout and want to see the participants. The show your PowerPoint in a window rather than full screen by:

Then present as normal. I like hitting F5.

I had to click multiple times to "windowize" mine in PowerPoint 2015. 

But it eventually worked.

Why sometimes a student can't see their feedback with multiple attempts

When a student checks their grade on an assignment where there has been more than one attempt. The grade will show, but instead of feedback they will see which attempt they are currently seeing the results of. They should choose the one that has the grade.

Usually the one with the grade is the most current attempt, and will be the one that will load by default, making this a non-issue. But when the first one is graded and the second one is not, then they must change it to the first in order to see the results
