Make PowerPoint show in a smaller window for hangouts

If you're presenting PowerPoint in a Google hangout and want to see the participants. The show your PowerPoint in a window rather than full screen by:

Then present as normal. I like hitting F5.

I had to click multiple times to "windowize" mine in PowerPoint 2015. 

But it eventually worked.

New way to use drive in Google hangout (and hangout lite)

There's a new way to use drive in Google hangout and hangout lite (available through Gmail).

1. In a hangout, click chat
2. drive (and choose a document that is already shared to those you're hanging out with)
3. right click on its link and open in a new tab (or window)

How to Google Hangout with someone off campus

If you try to Google Hangout with someone off campus you will see that it says that this is a Google@mtroyal.ca only meeting. Click on that warning...

Change, Allow, then Close. 

Then try again.

Share screens with hangouts lite

With the MRU Gmail account, you can share your screen to get tech help.

If you haven't activated click teh green dot beside your chat in the bottom left hand of Gmail

Then the magnifying glass and type in who you want to share it with, and click on their name when it comes up.

Then click the camera icon in the new hangout (chat) box that opens.

Click the green share screen button (upper left), choose the screen you want to share, and click share.

When you're done, click Stop sharing at the foot of the screen.

Join Google meeting video call instead of Bb chat for office hours

Due to server settings we can't really change, if there is no activity on a Bb chat after 10 minutes, it kicks you out.

Instead, make a Google meeting and invite all the students in the class, and add video call.

Students can click on the meeting (without even accepting it), and Join the meeting if they want to.
